About the Journal
The first online, bilingual medical journal written and edited exclusively by students of “Saint Sava” National College.
Sava Medical Journal is an extracurricular initiative of excellence that brings together a passion for the natural sciences, academic research and science journalism. The journal is published in Romanian and English and is written and edited exclusively by students of “Saint Sava” National College in Bucharest.
Our vision
We want to give students an early platform for professional development: a place to learn how to research, write rigorously and explain medical topics clearly. At the same time, the journal strengthens the College’s standing as an institution that shapes future leaders in medicine, nationally and internationally.
What we publish
- Science Explained — popular-science articles;
- Medical Innovations — reviews of new discoveries and technologies in medicine;
- Interviews — conversations with specialists and alumni of the College;
- Medical School Admissions — preparation guides for applying to medical schools.
Format
Sava Medical Journal is an open-access digital periodical published online. The website is designed to be read on any device, from a phone to a laptop.
Why bilingual
Every issue carries articles in both languages. The English section familiarizes students with international medical terminology and becomes a valuable portfolio piece for applications to universities abroad.
Who we write for
- First, students passionate about medicine, biology and chemistry at “Saint Sava” National College and other leading high schools;
- then, university admissions committees reviewing student portfolios, as well as teachers and parents;
- and the young medical community — medical students and resident doctors — and companies in the health sector.
What the journal brings to the College
- A stronger institutional brand. “Saint Sava” produces not only Olympiad winners but also young people able to manage complex projects.
- Better admission prospects. Serving as an author or editor is a significant extracurricular advantage when applying to leading universities in Europe and the US, and evidence of a genuine commitment to medicine for medical schools in Romania.
- An engaged alumni network. The journal connects today’s students with graduates who have become doctors or researchers and who can be interviewed or serve as mentors.
Project timeline
- Approval of the project by the College leadership and appointment of a coordinating teacher.
- Building the online platform and forming the editorial team through a call for applications open to students.
- Writing the first set of articles, review by the Advisory Board and preparation of presentation materials.
- Official launch with an event at the College, bringing together students, teachers and, possibly, a distinguished guest physician.
Medical note
Published articles are for educational and informational purposes. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and do not replace a consultation with a physician.
